Sahaba

Narrated Abdullah (raa: Radiallahu Anhu): The Prophet (saws: Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “The people of my generation (raa: Radiallahu Anhu) are the best, then those who follow them, and then whose who follow the latter.”

“After that there will come some people whose witness will go ahead of their oaths, and their oaths will go ahead of their witness.”

Ibrahim (a sub-narrator) said, “We used to be beaten for taking oaths by saying, ‘I bear witness by the Name of Allah or by the Covenant of Allah.”

    Assalamu Alikum,

    I have read many hadeeths from this website ( sahaba.net). Alhamduallah! Jazakallah for sharing such knowledge!

    Is the transalation from Muhammad Muhsin Khan ( saudi doctor)?
    If so, there is too many ERRORS/MISTAKES with the transalation.

    A nice attempt.InshALLAH you’ll get reward in the life hereafter for your struggle.I have an advice.Whenever you put a hadith,do try to give some commentary or explanation for that because without it we can assume many things that are not meant like in the above hadith I cant understand the reason or explanation of the last part , “After that there will come some people whose witness will go ahead of their oaths, and their oaths will go ahead of their witness.” what is the message in it? you must cover the message as well as the authenticity of the message you are trying to give.I hope you understand.

      Wa alaikum salaam, I agree. I am trying to put as much authentic commentary as I can find, English is not so easy for Hadith commentary. If you know of any good sources Insha’Allah you can let me know.

    Should we have to understand each verse of quran in the way sahaba(ra) have understood.why?

      We try the best we can with in our own abilities to improve ourselves and understand as they did. Each individual will have his/her on level and ability to understand but that shouldn’t stop us from continuing to try.

      As for why? They (Companions – may Allah be pleased with them) were taught from the Prophet (peace be upon him), the best teacher and example. The also had insight into things that we do not have now because of this close relationship they had with the Prophet (peace be upon him)

    MashaAllah, I really like the new version of the website. May Allah accept and reward you and your family in this dunyaa and in the akhirah. I was wondering, will you be posting the biographies of each individual companion or are you just intending for a visitor of the website to see all of the hadith connected to the sahaba’s name?

      Wa alaikum salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu.

      Insha’Allah, The plan is to have all information possible (hadiths, Quranic verses, bios, video and audio lectures, etc.) for each of companions, however it takes time. I have started bios for two of the companions below and Insha’Allah I will find a good way to organize (tag) the articles to separate the bios from the hadith.

      Any suggestions?

    AS Salaamo Alikum

    Please explain me this part of the above hadith, couldn’t understand what dose it mean

    “After that there will come some people whose witness will go ahead of their oaths, and their oaths will go ahead of their witness.”

    And as well this part, some clarifications
    Ibrahim (a sub-narrator) said, “We used to be beaten for taking oaths by saying, ‘I bear witness by the Name of Allah or by the Covenant of Allah.”
